Josep Puigmarti participates in the exhibition commemorating the 130th anniversary of the founding of the Royal Artistic Circle of Barcelona with two works on paper. We recall that a few months ago, the artist who lives in Hotel Estela Barcelona - Art Hotel in Sitges, was named Artist of Merit of the century-old institution. The magnificent exhibition was opened on September 7th in the Bolivarian Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Marta, Colombia. This activity wants to go beyond borders, sharing the visual arts in different areas of the world.
Reial Cercle Artístic, 130 años – Colombia 2011The Reial Cercle Artistic offers a selection of 17 artists to commemorate the celebration of 130 anniversary of its founding, with the great particularity that it is the first exhibition on Colombian grounds in which the entity participates and collaborates.
The Artistic Circle was founded in Barcelona in 1881, seven years before of what would be the first major showcase of modern Barcelona to the world: the celebration of the Universal Exhibition of 1888. Those were boom times of great cultural and intense preparation for this magnanimous event. Already entered in the twentieth century, specifically in 1916, in one of his visits to Barcelona, King Alfonso XIII granted the title of Royal to the Artistic Circle.
From its beginnings to our dates, the main objective of this historic institution has been the promotion of the Fine Arts.
Today the organization is presented with a commendable stability and a firm plan for the future in prevailing its roots to promote, encourage and support events and activities related to the world of art and culture in all its disciplines, in addition to spread it internationally.
This time there will be 17 outstanding contemporary artists chosen to decorate the rooms of the Bolivarian Museum of Contemporary Art: Josep Puigmartí, Jordi Andreu Fresquet, Emilia Castaneda, Cruañas Josep Benet Sarsanedas, Rafael Griera, Domingo Benito and Jordi Rollán as illustrious representatives Merit partners of the institution. Pepa Poch, Josep Bussalleu, Aida Gonzalez, Maria Dolors Raich, Eiji Kaji, Carlos Briega, Antonio Ayán, Andreu Aguilar and Martha Caycedo were the artists selected from a large number of participants to also represent the Reial Cercle Artistic in this magnificent exhibition of Santa Marta, Colombia.
